Pagbilao Power Station

Environment-Friendly Operations

High-quality, low-cost energy is reliably produced by Pagbilao Power Station in full compliance with Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and World Bank standards.

We’re always looking for innovative ways to reduce our impact on nature; these are some of the technologies, equipment and measures we successfully use.

ELECTROSTATIC PRECIPITATOR

Traps tiny particles in the flue gas. The electrostatic charge in this filtration device effectively captures 99.2% of fine ash from the exiting air stream.

AIR MONITORING

Ensures air quality is maintained at good condition through strategically located stations that monitor SO2 and NOx levels in the flue gas and ambient air 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

WASTEWATER TREATMENT FACILITIES

Removes harmful substances from wastewater. The resulting water is recycled, safe for use in the ash lagoon.

WATER SPRINKLING SYSTEM

Suppresses and controls dust during operations at the coal yard and coal unloaders.

IMPERMEABLE MEMBRANE

Barricades against groundwater contamination at our coal yards and ash disposal sites through the use of high-density polyethylene liners.

SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT

Rids our sewage of harmful contaminants, making it environmentally safe to discharge to a receiving water body, or for limited use in landscape irrigation.

FLUE GAS STACK

Properly and effectively disperses exiting flue gas streams into the atmosphere. This chimney is 220 meters tall, or almost sixty stories high.

FLY ASH SYSTEM

Removes collected fly ash from the electrostatic precipitator, then transports these to the fly ash silo on a cyclical basis.

BOTTOM ASH SYSTEM

Collects and removes ash from the boiler furnace bottom and conveys these to the bottom ash silos.
